The Intermunicipal Community of the Douro is an association of municipalities of multiple purposes, a legal person of public law of associative nature and territorial scope, established since 15 January 2009, covering the municipalities of Alijó, Armamar, Carrazeda de Ansiães, Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Lamego, Mesão Frio, Murça, Peso da Régua, Moimenta da Beira, Penedono, S. João da Pesqueira, Sernancelhe, Sabrosa, Santa Marta de Penaguião, Tabuaço, Tarouca, Torre de Moncorvo, Vila Nova de Foz Côa and Vila Real.
