Barriers and Solutions for Successful Implementations of Green Public Procurements within the Renewable Energy Sector: Experiences from PAs, SMEs and RDAs
When: Tuesday 31st May 2022 | 10.00 - 17.00 CEST
Where: Thon Hotel EU - Rue de la Loi 75, 1000 Bruxelles
The objective of this Policy Co-creation Workshop organized as part of the H2020 XPRESS project is focused on the not yet fully developed potential of public procurement and supporting the application of innovative technologies in energy transformation.
Successful examples of Green Public Procurement in the energy sector and the elements that have contributed to their success will be presented during the event.
In particular, Public Authorities and SMEs from Belgium and other European countries will discuss how to overcome the bureaucratic, financial and technical barriers that hinder the full involvement of public administrations and innovative companies in the development of GPP in the renewable energy sector.
For example, it may be difficult for a public authority to find small and medium-sized enterprises that can offer innovative services. By the same token, complex public procurement procedures might represent a burden for SMEs. These issues are even more relevant when restarting a business after the pandemic.
